Synopsis: True story of the ELLE magazine editor Jean-Dominique Bauby who suffered a massive stroke in 1995, at the age of 43 that paralyzed his whole body except his left eye. Despite his condition, he wrote the book "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" by blinking when the correct letter was reached by a person slowly reciting the alphabet over and over again using a system called partner assisted scanning.

The entire book was written by Bauby blinking his left eyelid, which took ten months (four hours a day). The book took about 200,000 blinks to write and an average word took approximately two minutes.
